Profit Prophet vs Underpriced AI - Which Reselling App Is Better in 2026?

If you're a reseller in 2026, you've probably come across both Profit Prophet and Underpriced AI. Both apps let you photograph items and get instant price estimates using AI. Both pull from eBay sold data. Both generate listings. But they're built for different people, priced very differently, and make different trade-offs.

This is an honest comparison. We built Profit Prophet, so obviously we think it's good - but we'll tell you where Underpriced AI genuinely does things we don't, and where we think we have the edge. You can decide which fits your reselling style.

Where Profit Prophet wins

Unlimited scans on Pro

This is the biggest difference. On Profit Prophet Pro, you can scan as many items as you want. No monthly cap, no counting down credits, no worrying about running out mid-way through a car boot sale. Underpriced AI's Pro plan gives you 30 scans per month. Their Pro Plus gives 75. If you're sourcing at car boots, charity shops, and estate sales regularly, 30 scans can disappear in a single morning.

For context, a typical car boot trip involves checking 40-60 items. With Profit Prophet Pro, that's no problem. With Underpriced Pro, you'd burn through your entire monthly allowance in one outing.

AI chat - ask anything about your items

After scanning, you can chat with the AI about the item. "Is this a first edition?" "What's the best platform to sell vintage cameras?" "How should I describe the condition?" Underpriced AI doesn't have a conversational AI - it gives you the scan results and that's it.

Hive Mind community

Profit Prophet has a community layer where users earn points for contributing data - confirming prices, correcting identifications, linking barcodes. Those points unlock cosmetics and competition entries. It makes the app better for everyone and gives you something to do beyond just scanning.

Built for the UK first

Profit Prophet was built in the UK, by a reseller who sources at UK car boot sales and charity shops. The default marketplace is eBay UK, prices are in pounds, and the local sourcing feature finds charity shops and car boots near your postcode. Underpriced AI is US-first - it supports the UK, but the default experience, blog content, and community are American.

Where Underpriced AI wins

Multi-platform sold data

Underpriced AI pulls sold data from eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, and Depop. Profit Prophet currently focuses on eBay sold data via SerpApi. If you sell across multiple platforms, seeing what items fetch on Poshmark vs eBay is genuinely useful. We plan to add estimated prices for other platforms, but right now Underpriced has the edge here.

Browser extension

Underpriced AI has Chrome and Firefox extensions that let you scan items directly from online listings. Browsing Facebook Marketplace on your laptop? Click the extension, scan the listing photo, get a price estimate. Profit Prophet doesn't have this yet - it's on our roadmap, but Underpriced has shipped it.

Batch scanning (10 photos at once)

Underpriced lets you upload up to 10 photos in one go, each priced as a separate item. Useful for processing a haul after you get home. Profit Prophet's bundle analyser takes one photo of multiple items and prices each thing in the photo, which is different (and arguably better for in-the-field use), but doesn't yet support uploading 10 separate photos as individual scans.

Direct Etsy publishing

Underpriced publishes listings directly to both eBay and Etsy. Profit Prophet currently supports eBay draft listings only. If Etsy is a major platform for you, that matters.

Pricing breakdown

Profit ProphetUnderpriced AI
Free tier3 scans/day, 1 listing/day, 5 inventory slots3 scans total (then done)
Pro Lite£6.99/mo (£71.99/yr) - 15 scans/day, no queue, no ads -
Pro£10.99/mo (£109.99/yr) - unlimited scans$9.99/mo - 30 scans
Pro Plus - $19.99/mo - 75 scans
Business - $29.99/mo - 200 scans
Extra scansNot needed (unlimited on Pro)$1/scan or packs ($5/5, $10/15)

The maths is simple. If you scan more than 30 items a month, Profit Prophet Pro is better value. And most active resellers scan far more than 30 items. At a single car boot sale, you might check 50+ things. With Underpriced AI, that one trip would cost you your entire Pro allowance plus extra scan packs.

The bottom line

Both apps solve the same core problem - "what is this thing worth?" - but they solve it differently. Underpriced AI has broader data coverage and a browser extension. Profit Prophet has unlimited scans, AI chat, a community, and is built specifically for UK resellers who source in person.

The pricing difference alone is worth considering. If you're the kind of reseller who picks up their phone 50 times at a car boot sale, Profit Prophet's unlimited scans at £10.99/month is hard to beat. If you scan 20 items a month from your desk, Underpriced's broader data might be more valuable.

Try both. We offer 3 free scans per day. Underpriced offers 3 free scans total. See which one fits how you actually work.
